Build Your Own Pavilion

Jasmine, age 12

My Pavilion is all about life which I have shown through a bridge. I think that life has two sides therefore my bridge has two sides, such as a happy smooth relaxed side and a sad rocky stressful side. The reason why you cross a bridge is to avoid anything that’s beneath it. That’s why I feel that underneath bridges are always dark and on top of bridges are always light.

Design:

The curving copper rail: Symbolises friendship in which you go through life with others next to you and supporting you with every choice you make. That’s why it’s a group of wires and not just one.
The reflecting razor-sharp spikes: Symbolise things that hurt you mentally and physically throughout your life. They reflect your feelings and display them as a dark colour.
The wires beneath: Symbolise the difficult times. They are single wires in jagged and confused shapes showing how you can go through hard times on your own.
