Build Your Own Pavilion

Daniel, age 14

My Pavilion will be located off a main road, on unused land so it can be easily noticed. The visitors will be anyone who would like to appreciate or learn about art and culture. It offers the chance for anyone to experience a diverse selection of art, history and culture. The walls will be made out of wood, the roof will be clear acrylic, and a range of materials in whatever is on display.

I think the best kinds of public spaces are big places of natural beauty like parks, forests and adventure walks. Sometimes, we don’t appreciate natural things enough and I think we should try to preserve these spaces.

  • I totally agree with your points about natural beauty, we try our best to create enjoyable places and spaces but we can’t beat what nature already provides.

Your pavilion could be a space to exhibit nature!

Many artists and makers have been influenced by the natural world and I like how you say your building could be an extension of what is displayed inside.

The use of wood and timber for construction is good. Have you considered how it could be powered? Maybe the large features on the roof could hold solar panels? It could be a wonderful eco-friendly building.
