Build Your Own Pavilion

Sarah, age 10

My pavilion is located up in Barr becon so you can see Birmingham. Anyone is allowed to enter, even dogs!

My pavilion offers shelter from the rain, food and drink, a play area for children, a trampoline and a swimming pool along with a rock climbing wall.

The roof is made from white marble, the walls on the outside are pink painted brick and the inside walls are wood as well as the floor.

  • You have considered the location for your pavilion and chosen somewhere high that offers good views across the city. Would you be able to climb up onto the roof to make the most of this? You have given careful thought to the materials you would like to use: I like that the interior is different to the exterior which will give an element of surprise when you enter. Also, that the interior wood surfaces will ‘soften’ the experience compared with the stone and brick outside.
